Core Disciplne: Education

Reinforcing the Value of Education

About the time children reach school age, we place greater emphasis on the value of education. We work closely with local schools, and require children to be in good standing to take part in the Pink Program.

Some of our activities revolve around basic skills. In Aba, Nigeria, many of the children cannot get to school, so our Pink volunteers teach them reading, writing and arithmetic.

In addition to basic skills, we have many different educational activities, including Pink Story Hour, Rockin’ English, and the Draw With Me art club.

Some of our recreational clubs teach valuable vocational skills. Jewelry Making for Fun and Profit combines creative fun with common sense lessons about how to run your own small business. The Young Carpenters Club teaches children woodworking skills and how to use simple tools.

The Pink Program employs a multi-faceted approach to instill its core disciplines in the lives of children. While each one has a sweet spot for implementation at a particular age, all of them work together across age groups to produce well rounded character effects.
